Our Heritage
Badara Njie Legal is named in honour of Alieu Badara Njie (17 October 1904 – 21 April 1982), a distinguished Gambian statesman and public servant. He served as the third Vice-President of the Gambia from 1977 to 1981 and was the first Gambian Ambassador to Senegal. Prior to his ministerial career, he had a long and respected career in the civil service, retiring as Registrar of the Supreme Court of the Gambia before entering politics.
Alieu Badara Njie held multiple senior portfolios in the first post-independence Gambian government under President Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Communications, Minister of Works, Minister of Information, and Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources. His contributions helped shape the early development of The Gambia’s government and diplomatic relations.
He was recognised for his service with national and international honours, including the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG).
The firm honours his legacy of public service, leadership, and commitment to the rule of law, which continue to inspire our approach to legal practice.
